The Old Mill
The Old MillKillearn Village GastropubAbout
The Old Mill bar and restaurant has a rustic ambience, with a modern twist. Within the pretty rural Stirlingshire village of Killearn, this gastropub is within view of the stunning Loch Lomond and close to Glengoyne Distillery. The 18th century former weaving mill retains the old world charm of exposed beams and an open fire, but has had a facelift to ensure a comfortable, relaxed and contemporary feel.
“Since taking over, under my guidance as executive head chef and patron, we have undertaken some extensive renovation works in the bar and restaurant as we strive to create something a little different with the Old Mill, somewhere you can relax and experience an amazing fun and lively atmosphere, eat and drink the best local, responsibly sourced Scottish produce.”
Mark Silverwood
The Old Mill, Killearn, is a bar and restaurant with much to commend it to visitors and locals alike. It has a lively bar area, and gastro-style pub dining with something to cater to all tastes, as well as a beer garden and off-road parking.
The Old Mill Pub
A large selection of premium lagers and ciders is complimented by guest ales from local craft brewers; Houston Brewery, Fallen Brewery, the Loch Lomond Brewery. The wine wine list offers a good handpicked variety of world wines. If you don’t want to drink alcohol, the Old Mill offers a large selection of loose leaf teas, and all the staff are barista trained by Brodies of Edinburgh coffee.
The Old Mill Kitchen
Executive Head Chef Mark Silverwood and his team are passionate about using Scottish produce wherever possible, Killearn is enviously at the heart of Scotland and has amazing game and fowl along with locally reared lamb, pigs and beef cattle and in season there are some great opportunities to forage wild garlic, girolle mushrooms and wild herbs.

The Yurt & Beer Garden
The garden is popular for alfresco lunches and dinners on warmer days, and the Yurt, which is cojoined to the restaurant, provides an alternative and atmospheric dining space. Both can be booked as venues, and lend themselves beautifully to small weddings and events. With a little imagination and some tea lights, the area is transformed. The Yurt can accomodate a party of approximately 30, and the new large canvas awning covers the entire garden area if wished.
Weddings & Events
The Old Mill is a fantastic venue for those looking to create an intimate celebration that is special, and possibly reflects a rural, rustic or vintage feel. The Yurt looks beautiful bedecked in fairy lights, and with a few simple flower arrangements and tealights, will make a stunning backdrop for any wedding or party. The chef & kitchen team can put together a menu to suit your tastes and budget.
