bushcraft * camping adventures * guided walking * barefoot walking * wild foraging * bike safaries * flyfishing * bushcraft birthday parties * bespoke days out

These guys offer a fantastic opportunity for children and adults to connect with nature. Usually the activities are based within the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, but as the name suggests, the Intrepid team will travel anywhere to deliver a bespoke experience.

We can travel to the North West Highlands, the Cairngorms & Central Highlands, Knoydart and the West Highlands. If you have an ‘experience’ in mind; walking, biking, fly fishing or a special Birthday party and Camping Experience, get in touch and we will do our very best to accommodate.

Outdoor Education

Tim and intrepid:scotland have led thousands of children and adults on a huge variety of outdoor learning experiences:

  • Bear hunts, barefoot walks (in March) and marshmallow toasting for nursery and P1 & 2’s
  • Island exploration on Inchcailloch covering navigation, tree measuring, plant and wildlife surveys for P1 to 7
  • An examination of ancient firelighting, water purifying and survival techniques, inspired by Kensuke’s Kingdom for P6 and 7
  • John Muir Award Schemes – delivery from start to finish across all age ranges and for all abilities
  • Delivery of Nat 4/5 Geography and Biology field studies
Wild Foraging
Our forests, hedgerows and wild places are nature’s larder.  Edible plants, roots, trees, berries and fungi are abundant and safe, if you know where to look and how to identify the diverse range of natural ingredients. Let us take you to explore the Scottish countryside, contemplating nature and foraging for the long list of edibles that are all around. This can be combined with other activities such as ‘campfire cooking’ to give you and your family or group a bespoke intrepid : scotland experience.
Cycle Safaris

It’s a lot of fun to jump on your mountain bike and head off to the trails that abound in the area around Loch Lomond & the Trossachs, Aberfoyle and Callander, as well as enjoying the smoother ride afforded by the Sustrans route 7 that runs north via Lochearnhead & Strathyre. However, as we pedal along, it is easy to miss so much. Intrepid:Scotland can take your family biking experience to another level:

Look out for our Cycle Safari Events listed on Facebook. They typically run from Easter through the summer holiday. Based around Aberfoyle and Callander, suitable for individuals and families with kids as young as seven, they are themed on natural navigation, bushcraft, foraging and wildlife spotting. Our Cycle Safaris run for around 2hrs at £15 per person.

We can run Cycle Safari just for you. For individuals, families, groups, companies. We can arrange for bike hire at cost too, through one of our local providers. The ride can be as gentle or mental as you like! Sessions can be for part days, full days or multi-days.

 Walking, Campfire Cooking & Fishing

Combine some walking (there are many Intrepid walking options) with foraging, fishing and a campfire, and you have a campfire cooking party. Tim is a masterchef around the campfire (poetic license allowed), and can rustle up some tasty dishes (stirfry, veg pittas and even open fire pizzas), all the while incorporating intrepid bushcraft skills. For those wanting to stick to something more rustic, Tim can show you how to make bread on a stick, bannocks, nettle broth. Great for the kids.

Bushcraft Birthday Parties

The evergreen bushcraft party has to be THE best birthday experience you can gift to boys & girls over the age of 5. The kids just love this. This really is a wonderful encounter with nature; with the kids finding the camping spot, making shelters, sorting kindling and making a spark to start their own fire. Baking bread and toasting marshallows over their own fire is exciting and gives such a strong sense of personal achievement. Barefoot walking and some slacklining might add to the experience. Oh, and cake too.
