Biographical Info

Groshek Pottery is a family business based in rural Stirling selling beautiful hand-crafted artisanal Polish pottery.

Each handmade and hand decorated item of Polish stoneware is as beautiful as it is practical.

Each intricate design is handpainted with brushes and stamps, and the result is an appealing mix of designs that offer a beautiful alternative for tableware.

All the beautiful designs can be purchased online, but Groshek Pottery also attend lots of local events where you can see the extended range (not all is available online) up close and you can buy directly, which is much more personal. Current upcoming events can be found on the website.

With 7 designs to choose from, and mix & match, there is something to suit every taste:

With an ecletic array of patterns and products, their handmade and hand-decorated pottery is quickly growing in popularity.

Each piece is unique and comes from Zaklady Ceramiczne ‘Boleslawiec’, an established company whose traditional manufacturing process draws from artisan methods dating from 1865, for whom Groshek Pottery are the sole traders.

Polish Stoneware is very practical for everyday use; safe to use in dishwashers, microwaves and fridges; dishes (which have a grooved bottom) are safe to use in traditional gas or electric ovens up to 280°C, as well as on glass, ceramic and electric hobs.

Background:

Despite the familial connection of partner Anna Higgins with Poland, it was actually a wedding gift that inspired the creation of Groshek Pottery. After receiving the unusual breakfast set, they quickly discovered that not only was it beautiful, but the high quality clay and production process  resulted in stoneware that was both durable and practical for everyday life. Their collection quickly widened to encompass all of their own tableware, and became a distinctive part of any gift-giving to friends and family.

Encouraged by the compliments of all those who visited, as well as their own love of the characteristic pottery, they decided to give others the chance to enjoy and experience it for themselves; thus Groshek Pottery was born.
